The Stoutmen are...
Roy Bartram - Bass, Penny Whistle, Vocals
Roy Bartram was raised in the countryside of Owego, New York and his rugged, hardworking ways come through loud and clear in his powerful singing. Playing the acoustic bass and pennywhistle, Roy lays down the beat to form the foundation for the Stoutmen’s BIG sound. Whether it's a rousing sea chanty, drinking song, or ballad, Roy’s deep, rich tambour fills the room, shakes the rafters and fires-up the crowd!
Tim Lynch - Guitar, Mandolins, Bodhran, Vocals
Tim Lynch comes from a big Irish family in Attleboro, MA and has a great love for the old Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem songs that he heard growing up. “These are such fun songs and they paint a fascinating picture of Irish life over the last couple hundred years. I hope people react to them the same way I did when I first heard them.” Tim dresses-out the Stoutmen’s sound with the Irish bouzouki and lead guitar.
Sean Walsh - Guitar, Whistles, Bodhran, Vocals
Sean Walsh is a Binghamton-area native who has been a longtime fan of Irish folk music. Sean’s voice and gentle guitar style are well suited to the poignant Irish ballads, but he’s equally at home with the Stoutmen’s boisterous sing-a-longs. Sean is always keen to get the audience involved: “These songs have been shared for generations, so we love when a crowd grabs on and belts them out with us.”
Bob White - Banjo, 12-String Guitar, Vocals
Bob White grew up on a farm in Watkins Glen, NY and as a young man traveled the world with the Navy. During the folk music revival of the 60's, Bob was bringing American folk songs to people as far away as Italy and it was during this time he learned many of the songs that the Stoutmen perform today. Bob plays the long-neck banjo and uses a unique blend of flat-pick and finger-pick on the 12-string guitar.
